Biography
Gonsalves Larue, better known as ‘Speedy’, is something of a legend in Seychelles and a man who straddles the entire spectrum of Seychelles’ society. He is a man with an unparalleled network of contacts and with extensive knowledge of Seychelles and all things Seychellois.
Born in February 1953, Speedy was educated at the Seychelles College where he remained until 1970. The following year he went to South Africa to study accountancy for 3 years before returning to Seychelles to start a commercial fishing venture.
At last, following his heart into the ocean, a decade later he purchased his first big game fishing boat which he chartered until 1987.
From that year until 1997, Speedy ran a water sports centre, for Sheraton Mahé Beach, until their departure from Seychelles, which included fishing and scuba diving amongst its activities.
Hearkening again to the ocean’s call, from 1998 to 2003, he operated Island Charters, specialising in big game fishing among the islands of the Seychelles archipelago.
In 2004, he co-formed a Yacht Management company with 2 partners, but after a year, decided to open his own company in order to offer a more personalised service to visiting yachts and their guests based on the firm foundation of his unrivalled maritime knowledge, gained from having dedicated an entire lifetime to the ocean.
